Drain plug leak underneath Starite System 3 Filter

Noticed a slow (once every 10-20 second) leak from this drain plug underneath my System 3 filter. I’ve never had this plug off, rather using the one on the side. Is there any issue with getting this plug off and replacing an o-ring I should know about? It’s a tolerably slow leak and I don’t want to make thing worse.

The tank needs to be drained. Pull plug off. Observe for bad o-ring and clean debris off it. Then rethread with pool o-ring lube.

Personally, I wouldn't be in a rush to stop a leak that slow. Does it puddle? Could you put a shallow pan underneath and let it evaporate out? Maybe even a nicely folded cloth? Making things worse is a genuine possibility and you certainly don't need that.
