Given that this stuff goes bad after a couple seasons I fail to see how throwing out 80-90% of it makes it a "clear winner"
Are you using the small end of the scoop? We've seen people use the paddle end and that's way more powder than you need. Even using the small dipper end of the scoop you only need it full to have the amount of powder for the 10ml sample. We err on the side of caution and say to round it off. Even rounded off that's not much powder per test and 10 grams should last you a good long time. The website says that it should last approximately 100 tests. I get a little less than that because I'm a little overly generous on the amount but I can go a whole year on a jar.
Here's a picture of the scoop. The tiny dipper end (to the left) should be just a tiny bit rounded off full of powder.

Are you sure you only use one scoop for the 10 ml sample? If so, I’ve been doing it wrong.
My Taylor kit does not say that. Still references two scoops.
Ah, that makes sense. It does turn pink after the first dip, but I always put in another because I assumed it would not correlate. Thanks
True, but you don’t need a saturated solution, in which further powder will not dissolve. If you had a SpeedStir, that tiny bit of powder would also dissolve.
