Dolphin Robot - Hot Power Supply?!

My robot worked well for a year or so; now, it runs just a few minutes and shuts off. I disassembled the robot, assuming that was the issue, but everything is fine - it's just the power supply. It overheats and shuts things off.

Pretty useless to have a pool robot that cannot work outdoors...

Even though dolphins are pool cleaners, Their power supplies are still a sensitive electronic device so they shouldn’t be kept in direct sunlight or out in the weather. Heat exposure is just bad for electronics. They are also only water resistant not waterproof. Many here have found ways to shelter their power supply when in use & when stored.
Storage practices aside, electronic things sometimes just malfunction/go bad.
Most dolphins have at least a two year warranty depending upon how they were purchased, so be sure to pursue that ASAP. If you are out of the warranty period a replacement power supply can be purchased separately.

W,

I have been using Dolphin robots for about 10 years and have only had one bad power supply, and that was bad right out of the box due to a broken switch.

The failure you describe is not one that we see much... I currently have three robots in use and they all live outside. But all of them are protected from the direct sun light.

Thanks,

Jim R.
