My S300 did not come with a caddy as I purchased it from Pool Partz , as a refurbed unit.
Is it safe to store these sitting on the bottom rollers/tracks when out of the water ?
I saw someone posted they store theirs sideways , and it got me thinking if there could be any long term damage/problems if these are stored resting on the bottom (like as it would be running in the pool) .

Only issue is the deformation of the rubber rollers. They tend to get a flat spot or crease if the unit is stored on a hard object or flat surface. Personally, I just toss mine into a deck box and forget about it.

I don't know, but that looks bigger than the M series. Does anyone know how they actually compare in size?

The documentation that comes with the unit suggests you store it upside down.

Actually Maytronics recommends storing on the caddy , but lots of Dolphin owners must not have the caddy, so .........
For long term storage , you are correct . Upside down is the suggested storage position . I am sure it would be favorable to store the unit upside down at all times too if they suggest it for long term . Must be a reason why ..........
From the S300 owners manual ..........
"If the Pool Cleaner will not be in use for an extended period, perform the following storage steps:
Disconnect the Pool Cleaner from mains
Make sure that no water is left in the Pool Cleaner
Thoroughly clean the filter bag or cartridges and insert in place
Roll up the cable so that it has no kinks
Store the Pool Cleaner up side down, in a protected area out of direct sun / rain / frost at a temperature of between 41°-113°F / 5°-45°C "
Are these robots ok for a vinyl lined pool? I'd eventually like to get one as my current original Kreepy Krawly doesn't do the greatest job of getting debris out of the pool.
I know that the M series, are excellent in one of my buddies vinyl pool, and his brother's fiberglass pool. I imagine these units do just as well in vinyl too.
If you have a cleaner with foam climbing rings on the brushes, its not good for them to sit on them and dry out. They will develop flat spots, and the caddies/carts they come with have elevated points on them to prevent this from happening. This might happen, but to a lesser/slower degree to the soft rubber bristles on the rollers of all of them though. Hence the storage suggestions.

Thank you for the info. I'd really like to get one of these robots to reduce the time I spend manually vacuuming once the budget allows.
Let me tell you, and I have said it a thousand times. I put my vac hose away the week mine went in, and I haven't seen it since. This will be my fourth year without it.
Ordered the Active 20 from Pool Partz. Refurb'd, but at $599 (I actually got it for $579 due to military discount) I feel it was a better buy than the Discovery which would have been $800+ due to tax or the Polaris P825 from Leslie's for $820 after rebate. I just didn't see the point in paying $200 for 1 year of warranty after reading through this thread. Hopefully this will reduce my maintenance time and increase my relax time.

Got my Active 20 today. Got it going on its maiden voyage journey. Watching it for the first cycle to see how it does.

Just don't try to nap by the pool with it running. It will surface and wake you up.
I often nap in the pool while it's running; barely notice it any more.

So I have ran it twice now, lots of sand and other stuff. Does not pick up rocks though and it seems to have problems with a few leaves. I am going to clean it again this morning and see if that fixes the leaf issue. I will be honest, kinda boring to watch, lol. Pics:
