Does this indicate something is wrong if my alkalinity was at 30 and six tablespoons of Spa Up/ baking soda only brought it to 40 ? The directions say to start with 2 tablespoons which I did.
I’ve always had problems getting the alkalinity up so I usually settle for 40 to 50 but I don’t think it used to take so much Spa Up.
The water was just changed 3 weeks ago.

That should raise your TA by 36 according to PoolMath. How are you measuring the TA? Did you make sure to run the jets to circulate everything really good before re-testing? Did you add any acid between measuring the two TA measurements?

What is the alkalinity of your fill water?

Are you still using bromine tablets in this tub? Or are you using solid/granular chlorinating compound?
