Does the Hayward TCELL940 actually have better cell life or is the model change from T-CELL-15 just about the 4 year warranty vs 3?

The 940 costs a few hundred more at my pool store (CAD $) so just wondering if this is pure marketing or does the 940 actually have better cell life than the T-Cell-15?

All I know is that my original T-Cell-15 that had a 5 year warranty lasted much longer then the T-Cell-15 with the 3 year warranty and I was way more careful with the 3 year warranty one compared to my 5 year one and the 3 year one died a few years sooner.

Thanks

It is hard to separate marking claims from technical specifications.

Hayward says the "TurboCell Extended Life Salt Cell: Will produce 25% more chlorine over its lifetime."

In the USA the Tcell940 has a 4 year warranty when sold from a Totally Hayward® professional.

The extra cost is partly paying for the extra warranty. Hayward does not tell us what technically they did to produce 25% more chlorine over its lifetime. Probably a thicker coating of rare earths on the plates as the plates are the same size.

The way I read the above is based on warranty, so my assumption is they are basing the output based on the warranty period the will honour. I would love to think they improved the coating in addition to the longer warranty but somehow doubt it at a time when precious metals are at an all time high.

It would be great if the specifications included the amount of coating and that way you could compare replacement brands.

It is interesting that this chart has no supporting * for the TCELL940.

And the Cost per Pound of chlorine has no actual numbers.

Mostly marketing and little technical information while they take a shot at Generic Cells.
