Does temp effect algea

Been doing your method for three years now and it really helped clear up algea and save me cash.

I got comfortable this summer and started to reduce test times... And it happened to be on a heat wave for us. I kept adding the same amount of bleach as usual while casually testing.

I noticed late in the week that the FC dropped to 2 and it was requiring more bleach than usual to get me over the 7 hump.

Does temperature effect chlorine need?

Does it matter what time of day I run the filter as well?

You only loose FC to sun and organics. So in the summer the days are longer (more sun) and more people are swimming (more organics) these are the usual drivers of increased chlorine consumption in the summer.

The direct sunlight on the pool water is the primary degradation of the chlorine in your pool. I am sure temperature has some effect but the direct UV on the water is the primary.

I like to run my pump during the time the sun is on my pool as I have a SWCG and that way the chlorine is being generated at that time.

However, if you are manually dosing it does not have a great effect on when you run your pump/filter. If you brush a couple times a week and the pool is getting used then you should have few dead spots from circulation.

Good luck.
