I have been the pool boy for my pool since late summer 2018 when my daughter owned it. I bought it from her last summer. I have always had problems with brown powdery blotches all over in places on the pool bottom but never on the sides or surface. The water has always stayed clear for the most part. Two or three times over the years but not since 2022 I did the slam process until the overnight chlorine loss was 1 ppm or less, but the blotches soon returned. I am definitely considering liner replacement as it has some wrinkles and stains and I know it is pushing 20 years old at least.
Is it possible that the blotches are sand from underneath even though the pool does not seem to leak? If I do replace the liner, are there preventive measures to take beyond cleaning equipment, toys, etc. and properly balancing the water? I would be using well water to refill it. I use Taylor k100 kit. TA is 120, Ph 7.5, and CYA 50. I maintain chlorine at 6 ppm. I can and sometimes do vacuum to waste but with no impact.
Let me know if I can provide additional information. Thanks for any advice, suggestions, etc.
