Do I need sand or go right up on top of stone dust after gorilla liner?

18X33X52" AGP I'm putting up.

My base is "Stone Dust" as I had a slope and had to take down the high area and I wanted a good solid firm base to work off of. I'll have the entire pool area, including 3 feet PAST the pool area totally set and level with stone dust, well compacted, etc. The minimum depth of the stone dust would be 3-4" minimum, the maximum areas are probably in the 5-6" range. Picture of the texture of the material included.

When it gets wet, after compaction, it is hard. Very nice and firm. You could drive on it. You could bounce a basketball on it. You do not leave footprints at all.

I have a Gorilla Pad I'm putting down with a Foam peel-n-stick Cove.

DO I NEED SAND? Or can I put down the gorilla pad and then put the liner up? What would sand do for me? Cushion? Make me have more foot-prints that I don't currently have? Thanks!
