Do I have to lock Jandy Valve?

I have one Jandy Valve in my system that controls the suction of the pool cleaner. I was adjusting the suction today, and the valve lock broke. I couldn’t get the nut back on, so I just removed the handle. My question is, will I harm my pool leaving the handle and lock off? I figure I can just pop the handle back on next time I adjust the suction. I only adjust it every so often so i don’t think it will harm anything. Nobody else goes out and messes with the pool pump. I just thought I would ask here if anyone sees any reason this might be an actual problem. I just didn’t want to deal with trying to get the broken nut screw out and having to go buy another one.

Handle is removable. No problem leaving the valve without the handle.
