DIY pool build underway- Regular Skimmer or Wide Mouth Skimmer?

Hi there! We received our pool kit and I received regular skimmers (after asking for wide mouth). Apparently the pool panels for a 48" pool wall do not come cut for a wide mouth skimmer. Also being told that there are really no big advantages of having a wide mouth skimmer. So, our options are- send the regular skimmers back for wide mouth and cut the hole size larger in the steel panel or sticking with what we have.

Any opinions from you guys on what I should do?

Pool size is 20 X 44 rectangle.

I really think it is a case of six of one and half a dozen of another. Both will work. Will you have a large leaf load?

Really if you have the returns set up just right either skimmer should work.
