Dips in new In Ground pool floor...

Hi,
I just had a new in ground pool installed this year. Galvanized steel walls, portland cement + masonry sand mix for the pool floor bottom, vinyl liner.

Yesterday, I counted seven noticeable small (maybe half the size of your palm) dips in the floor where the floor meets the wall in the shallow end. They are not noticeable to the eye, but if you walk over to them. They are literally right where the floor meets the wall.

Is this normal? Is this normal for new pool construction?

I've already emailed my pool guy who has been pretty good throughout the entire process. No response yet. And honestly, theres not much we can do outside of draining the entire pool, taking off the liner, patching up the dips some how, and put it all back. Not something I want to tackle...

If this is not normal, any ball park guesses as to what may happen if left as-is, and how long until I see real problems?

Shameless Bump.

Any ideas?

Im kind of worried since I cannot find any literature on this...whether this is normal for a pool floor/wall/liner to settle like this in a few spots. I Or if I have a leak somewhere, or if some animal burrowed a hole there or something.

Just a bit frustrated since this pool was built in November and already I see an imperfection! My wife says theres nothing we can do short of draining, taking off the liner, patching, and re-hanging the liner and hope it doesn't rip. And she is correct, but its just frustrating that this was a 35k+ investment, brand new...

I have some imperfections in my pool bottom as well (finished about a year ago). Mine are more like small humps and dips. I would think as long as there are no jagged edges or sharp drops you will be okay. It may have been that way when they floated out the floor and it just wasn't visible.

I'll be interested to see what the PB has to say.

Ok, good to know that some other folks had some imperfections. And all of you are OK so far, structurally speaking? I also noticed a small bump the size of my thumb, in the deep end slope area, almost maybe like a wrinkle got scrunched together or something.

But man...Im standing there in the shallow, encouraging my 1yr old to jump into my arms and I step into a slight dip the size of the palm of your hand, maybe a bit smaller. Ive been in the (new) pool a dozen times already and have never noticed this. I then scoured the bottom, specifically where the floor meets the wall, and found 6 more. Amazingly, they are all near eachother...Theres a few on the shallow end side near the corner, and then around that corner to the long 34ft edge a few feet from the shallow end corner...So I guess you can almost say its congregated into one area which also has me a bit worried. Maybe a water/drainage issue that loosened the concrete floor? But I don't have any water problems on that side that I can see.

Our pool is over 20 years old and we're on our third liner. We have several imperfections in the floor of our shallow end and they've never caused us any issues. I agree with a previous reply, if there are no sharp edges, you should be fine.

Some of the depressions in our shallow end are actually boot prints. You can't see them in the daylight, but when we turn on the light at night, you can see them clearly. Maybe that's what you have?

As a man of 275lb if I got into my shallow end and put weight on one heel. Bounce a couple times I can make a indentation in my floor. From what I read and understand that is normal for vermiculite. Considering my size
