I am using the Taylor K-2006 FAS/DPD test kit and have noticed something that I don't understand.
For the past week or so I have had crystal clear water and have been measuring zero combined chlorine while maintaining 5 - 10 free chlorine at 50 cya. Everything was great except that I am using an increasing amount of chlorine each day to maintain my FC level. I did an OCLT and lost over 2ppm so now I am starting to SLAM.
The part that I don't understand is that all week long I measured 0.0 CC at normal FC levels but as soon as I raised the FC level to 20 ppm I starting measuring CC. I can even smell the chloramines on my hands.
My question is why didn't the CC show up in the test at 5 - 10 ppm FC but did show up at 20 ppm FC?
Mike.
