I was hoping to have someone walk me though in detail how to properly program my Suntouch with my Intelliflo VS (011018)
My current set up on the Suntouch is just basic "solar auto" which opens the valve to the roof panels whenever there is heat available. My pump does not recognize this and stays at whatever speed its running currently at.
The farthest I've gone is to make schedules on the computer attached to the pump itself to change speeds at certain times.
The manual is pretty confusing. I'm not figuring out how to program the Suntouch to tell the Intelliflo to increase RPM's automatically when the Suntouch turns the solar on.
I don't know if I have to change the Suntouch to POOL/SPA mode or SINGLE BODY mode or what... I read in the manual about selecting the type of pump you have in the Suntouch menu but I'm thinking there's a lot more to it.

Is this something Pentair customer service could/would walk me through?

I have the SolarTouch so mine is a bit different. The communication cable that came with the pump was connected to the SolarTouch and the pump was programmed with a speed for the solar as "Ext 2". When heat is called for the SolarTouch activates the preselected external speed and when finished returns control back to the pump itself. With an automation system I think all of your speeds may be controled externally.

Sorry, I can't be more helpful. We will try to scare up an expert on SunTouch for you.

Do you know if I went far enough to mess things up, if pressing the two rest buttons would take me back to the Suntouch running in SOLAR AUTO? I could just start to fiddle with things but I don't want to get to a point were I'm too far from getting back. Thanks Chief

Yes, Pentair customer service can walk you through it. I also have a Solartouch. Pentair's manual is difficult to read but I managed to figure it out by having the manual and doing the programming at the same time with some trial and error. Assuming the Suntouch is the same or similar to the Solartouch you first need to enable Intelliflo under the pump settings. On the Inetelliflo you need to set the speed you want solar to run on Ext 2. Then when solar heat is available it will ramp to speed 2 and when solar shuts off it will return the pump to whatever speed it was running when solar turned on.

Me2,

Have you set up any "circuits" yet?

You basically have to assign the speed you want to circuit that needs that speed.

So.. If you assign a speed of 2000 to the circuit called "SOLAR" then anytime the solar circuit is on the pump should run at 2K.

Press the Menu button and move to PUMPS 12/14

Make sure IntelliFlo is selected

Go to Circuit Setup..

Select pump #1

Assign circuit to Solar (Your choice of circuits are.. None, Spa, Pool, Aux1 thru 3, Feature 1-4, Solar, Heater, Pool Heat, Spa Heat, Freeze, pool/Spa, and Solar/heat.

Set your wanted pump speed (2,000 for this example)

You can, if you want to, go back and assign speeds to other circuits.

You can then "Schedule" the "Circuits".. For example.. if you schedule the Pool circuit to run from 10 am until 10 pm at 1200 RPM the pump should run at the speed. If however, during that time, Solar is called for, then pump should increase speed to the 2,000 RPM (or whatever speed you set the SOLAR circuit to be..) You would normally schedule Solar, as it would just come on as automatically...

edit... Keep in mind the highest speed always wins.. If you are running at 2500 and solar comes on and requests 2000, the pump speed will remain at 2500...

I know this is not a step by step guide, but give it a try and see what happens.

If this does not makes sense or does not work for you, then a call to the Pentair Help Desk, would be a good option.

Thanks,

Jim R.
