Debris floating in pool, does this mean I need more rpm and time with pump?

Pool builder had pump at 3400rpm half day and 2400 half day. Based on this site saying that’s too much pump for too long which of course would jack up the electricity , I turned it down to 2400 for 6 hours and 1800 for 14 hours and off for 4.

But ive noticed when I get in pool there’s a fair amount of tiny debris floating in pool. On top, bottom, and in center of water. I get out the hand held catfish cleaner and get to work cleaning it up for 20 mins or so as I swim around.

Its wooded lot, so debris is expected. But I clean it and auto cover it. Then next day there’s the debris.

Does this mean I need more pump rpm’s for longer time. Maybe slimmer and drains would work better, but I feel like I’m already using my pimp more than most???

Is the debris there when you first uncover the pool? I wouldn't think so unless there's a big enough gap between the cover and coping for junk to blow underneath. If it's only getting to the water when uncovered, you can bet it's the local area and the success of water movement (to the skimmer) could also depend on the prevailing winds, regardless of the pump speed. It's hard to fight Mother Nature when the wind is blowing opposite the skimmer. Also check your water circulation. Maybe use some ping pong balls to see if water moves well to the skimmer. Now if you suspect the debris might be something from the pool itself, you might want to describe it further and perhaps post a full set of results.

I find weird is when I uncover 18 hrs later, the small particles of debris seem to be floating suspended in water like they just got put their. Maybe they come from the pool cover ? If my visualizations are correct, as the pool cover opens and closes, the wet bottom of cover touches the dry dirty top of cover. This would explain why cover is always slightly wet when I cover pool.

Im always getting these tiny white .”fertilizer type pellet sized” things I suck up at bottom of pool too??? Have no idea what they are.

Maybe at some point when the light is good you could snap a picture and show us? Sometimes that helps generate some ideas. Certainly your thought about the cover is plausible. The small white pellet-sized items are a mystery though unless you are adding any granule-type products to the water (stabilizer, cal-hpo, etc) that may not have been fully dissolved.

I added stabilizer about a month ago? Its all dissolved or sucked up when i dive with my catfish vacuum :) This morning I opened the cover and there was like 50 dead flying ants. Those darn things bite and must be living under the cover assembly or something.

we have a couple 90 degree days with lots of pool action, Ill keep my eyes peeled for any explanations of where this is coming from
