Dead pump

Argh! Already frustrated because the lawnmower won't start. Now the pump is just humming. I have a new motor and seal I can install, however I have also been considering a new sand filter to replace the current DE filter, just not too sure about laying out any more money right now. And I just bought 3 case of bleach this morning!

Make sure the pump shaft turns freely by hand (with the pump off). If it is difficult to turn, there might be a blockage around the impeller or a few turns might distribute enough lubricant onto the bearings to free it up.

I have tried that and it didn't help any. It was hard to turn by hand, but turned easily using a vice grip as a handle. Oh well.

And I cracked the impeller trying to take it off.
