Dead Chipmunk in pool over winter

So I just peeled back my pool cover to drain some water (mesh cover) and low and behold there was a dead chipmunk at the bottom of the shallow end. I got the Chipmunk out but as you can imagine after months at the bottom of the pool there is remaining debris.

I am in New Hampshire and am not opening the pool until early May so my question is should I treat the pool with bleach right now or can I wait until May when I open the pool?

Thanks
-Matt

26k gunite pool, 1.5hp pump, Hayward DE Filter

:pukel:

Open the pool as soon as feasible. Vacuum and skim solid debris. Execute a post-Winter SLAM. All will be ok.

FYI-

TFP always recommends opening a pool once the water temp reaches 60F consistently. Algae growth rates start to take off above 60F so it’s a good point to do a SLAM and get the water sparkling clean. When the water is cold, you really only need to run the pump for about 2 hours per day and FC loss rates will be really low so chemical dosing isn’t that labor intensive.
