Dead Algae in pool - told Black Algae

So, what’s the solution? I have the same issue. Was told it’s black algae. Poured in 4 gallons of liquid shock. No change overnight. I have a sand filter, built in pool (vinyl liner) with 25,000 gallons.

Black algae is completely different from green algae. Tell us why you think you have black algae.

Because every morning there is black “sediment “ on the bottom of the pool. Mostly where the side walls meet the bottom in the deep end. It brushes up easily (like dust) but comes back the next day.

That would likely be dead algae. Means your pool has algae in it, even if you cannot see it.
Black algae is actually a bacteria that embeds itself in the plaster of pools and is difficult to remove. With a vinyl liner, black algae is very, very rare.

I use strips and weekly water tests at the pool room. Everything is balanced.

Welcome! For what it’s worth, if you have algae, the water isn’t balanced. If you read through the forum a bit you’ll find it’s common for the pool stores to give bad advice.

Ok. Just ordered the K2006c. Will have it Friday. Is there anything I should do in the meantime? Is it ok to swim?

It is OK to swim. I would be sure you are adding at least 3-5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine each day to the pool. A gallon of 10% liquid chlorine each day will do.
