DE Perflex EC 65 Filter - All 6lbs of the DE I put into the skimmer kicks back into the pool

Ok guys..... so I took apart the filter...took it to a pool guy I know.....he looked at it and said it’s nearly impossible to detect where the problem is. Visually looking at it; the 2 plates are fine, o-rings; seal, all looks good. He says it’s the fingers that the DE adheres to.....said just because they look intact, doesn’t mean there arent small holes in the fabric on numerous fingers that you just will never find...... his recommendation ; time to put this 20 year old filter to rest. Thanks for all the input and advice. Greatly appreciated

All of my DE kicks back into the pool ( yup.....all 6 lbs). You can literally see a cloud shoot8ng from all 3 outlets into the pool until all the DE is in the pool. Gives this really nice coating to the entire pool bottom
If that much DE went back to the pool, the problem would be obvious.

There's no way that that much DE shoots into the pool and bypasses the filter and you can't find a defect.

It's just not possible.

Was there any DE on the fingers at all?

I still say that the feeder is the most likely cause of the issue.

I would replace the filter and remove the feeder.

James..... the system worked great for years with the feeder as is, still not sure that’s part of the problem.....I gotta imagine after 20 years the fabric covering the fingers are probably more degraded than I thought. Working with it for so many years you get accustomed to what they look like I guess..... I will give it 1 last shot... tomorrow I will bypass the feeder completely toss in a pound of DE and see what happens. If it all shoots back into the pool, then I really have no answer but to replace it. Will certainly let u know
