We are having a problem with DE in our pool . We had the multi valve port replaced in August since the replacement we have had all the DE from our pac fab NS/72 filter go into our pool. After the first occurrence we replaced all of the grids and the o ring on the stand up pipe. At that time we also did a detailed inspection on the manifold and there were no cracks found. The plumbing on the new MVP. Is a different setup so we are wondering if that is the problem. I am posting a picture with hopes that someone might be able to identify if the plumbing looks incorrectly installed. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't see anything odd with your installation. Since this appears to have only started after the MPV install, I'm curious .... when the system is off, does the water from the pump strainer pot drain-out (lose prime)? I'm wondering if there is a slight air leak from that install that is allowing air into the system, which could allow water to flow backwards, thereby letting DE flow backwards.

Thank you for your response. The pool isn’t running right now we were hoping to get the problem fixed before putting adding de again. I noticed that there is a little bit of water dripping where the pvc connects to the pump can this be the problem? Thanks again

A slight leak in the system like that can allow air to enter once off. That allows water to shift in the system, many times going backwards and lowering water from the pump basket. Sometimes that can also pull DE with it in the process if there is no check valve installed. Once you run the system again, watch it for a while when you turn it off. If the pump basket water level drops or flows backwards, then that could be how y our DE was getting back in the pool. If not, then there may be a different cause for your DE issue.

Well the pool company who installed the multiport valve finally Came over today to look into our DE problem. The multiport valve they installed was defective and They will be installing a new one next week. thanks for your feedback.
