I closed my pool today. I cleaned out he DE filter but did not add more DE as the pumps were off etc. Is this OK? Can I just leave the empty clean grids in the filter container for the winter? Obviously with drain plugs removed etc.

You're fine. You can charge the grids with fresh DE next spring. Enjoy your winter slumber.
