dark gunite or not

Getting ready to build our 4th pool, but the first gunite one. Small pool 12x30 kidney shape with a chair deck. 3-5ft in depth. I had originally thought about black gunite but now am second guessing my decision. Also, since it usually just me in the pool, the size isn’t an issue. But would it be too small for resale
I am going with salt water( had it in last liner pool and lived it) but some forums say it’s too hard on the gunite.
Thanks in advance for all your comments!!!!!

Having a a swcg and salt in your pool is fine. Some of the softer rock (limestone) doesn’t like it as much. As long as you keep it balanced no problems there

Do you have room for a larger pool? Does the design your going with fit your backyard well? What’s the cost difference to make it a little bit bigger?

In the end end it’s a personal preference so I wouldn’t worry too much about resale.

What do other houses on your area have for pools? What about an attached Spa vs a bigger pool?

The best way to determine what color plaster you want is to go view a few different pools. Pictures are ok to look at but seeing it will make a difference.

How do you want your water to look? I have a dark color and like it very much and the water just sparkles.

3' is very shallow and perhaps 3.5' as a minimum makes a big difference. Get a tape measure and go from the ground up to your waist and let that be a guide.

Pools will probably not do much for resale and in some areas it can have a negative effect. Get it for your enjoyment and not the next person or you may be disappointed.

I have SWG and have no regrets whatsoever! Robots are nice as well :)

If I were you I would look at as many pictures online you can of different color plasters. If you can see it in person, even better. My pool has a light blue plaster and I really like it. My folks had a blackish gray plaster in their pool and they didn't like it (was that way when they bought the house), and they changed it to a medium blue. It's really a personal preference.

No problem with salt water here, most people I know here in South Florida have gunite/plaster and salt cells.

I like the lighter shades of plaster for a nice sky blue water appearance. I have seen dark color plaster pools up close and I find it harder to distinguish water tint from slight green algae-like water. I suppose if you maintain a TFP pool, then it wouldn’t much matter, but I was reluctant to swim in the darker colored pools since they all looked “off” to me.

skimmer swimmer you obviously have not seen my TFP beauty (I don't mind saying myself :) ). Not defending as I totally hear what you are saying. I have no hints of green tint as that was the one thing I wanted to avoid...
