Hello everyone, I'm hoping you can assist in identifying what type of stain this could be or how to follow with testing to identify it.
This a friend's pool, light plaster. A few months ago they started noticing greyish stains near the main drains in the deep end of the pool.
The pool was converted to salt in early May. The stains were first noticed around July.
The pool chemistry has been kept pretty much in check, only need to add acid to adjust pH weekky.
Recently they got the water tested at a pool store and found that copper was 0.6 and iron was at 0.1. They sold them something called NoMetal which had them add the liquid into the pool and insert a bag in the skimmer and running circulation for 24 hours straight.
After that, they got the water tested and it showed no trace of metals.
Thinking that it would be metal related stains, they got a stain testing kit at the pool store which provides 3 different powders, one ofr iron stains, one for copper stains and another for organic stains. They used the powders on three different spots to trybto identify and it seems neither of them did anything.
They also have tried scrubbing the stain with a regular plastic bristle pool brush with no change.
I'm hoping you can perhaps provide some guidance as to what other steps may be taken to identify and remove these stains.
I have added a picture that shows the stains.
Thank you in advance for any insights you can share!
