Hi everyone!

I just purchased a house and inherited a pool with a voyager swim pro cartridge filter. This kind with the screw on top.

This thing is impossible to loosen/tighten and changing the filter today I noticed the threads on the lower body were very rough like sand had gotten between them and gouged out deep lines (kind of like if you took a steel brush and "cleaned" it). Just injured my elbow trying to tighten it enough to clip and keep my SLAM going.

I've replaced the O-rings and used liberal amounts of silicone lube.

Any ideas on how to fix the gouges? If I can even get the lid off again...

I was thinking taking 60-120-220 grit sandpaper to it, but don't know if that will make it worse.

Yeah, me either. But as a last resort that might be your only option. Start lightly and go more aggressive if needed. But let's see if anyone else replies soon with another idea. Stand by ...................

Welcome to TFP!
