Liquid Chlorine
I have the TF-Pro testing kit and recently finished a nearly two-week SLAM. I got in the habit of testing the FC and CC daily. Now that my SLAM is over, I am only using the comparator block for daily testing of chlorine and doing only weekly testing of FC/CC, per the testing kit instructions. These instructions indicate that this does not provide an precise measurement of the FC. Presumably, this means that Pool Math won't be able to give me a precise measurement of the amount of liquid chlorine that I need to add to my pool each day. I have read in Pool School, however, that I need liquid chlorine daily.

So, my question is: How do I know how much chlorine to add every day, if I am not doing the FAS/DPD test every day? Thanks!

You'll get a feel for your pool and how much chlorine it uses. You can do the fas/dpd whenever you want to confirm you're at your target. There is a big range so it's fairly easy to keep it within range. Just don't run the minimum - that'll get you in trouble.

I test weekly if that during the season and never use the basic test.

The block test is more of a 'is chlorine in there' test. If it's gooooood and yellow, or even orange, chances are you have enough for today. But only after you're comfortable with it from lots of comparing back and forth. And it's no good for an actual # for dosing if you're being specific.
