My Taylor test came today! I knew my CYA was high (2 different stores told me I was at 100 and 105 respectively), but my home test was complete well before I hit the 100 mark on the tube. I'm starting to drain about 1-1.5 ft water, but wondering if there is a more sensitive home test.

There is no more sensitive home test.

How long did you mix the solution? Did you test outdoors? Explain it in your words.

I didn't use a stopwatch, but swirled approximately 30 sec. Looked for the dot both northward facing and indoors just to make sure I couldn't see the dot

Great. That test can work for up to 5 minutes. Sometimes letting it sit for a minute or two. Or test, pour back, test, pour back and average results. Should be done outdoors. Fill to first line, hold at your waist, look down with a GLANCE. Don't stare. If dot is obscured with a glance, take that number and round up to the next higher 10s. So if obscured at 50, your CYA is between 50 and 60 and we round up.

Got it. Thanks! I am going to test again after I fill. I will probably have to take another foot or more off tomorrow, just don't want to do it all at once. Even then, my guesstimate says sI'll still be a bit high around 50 give or take.
