So, received my Taylor k2006 5 min ago. Tested cya first thing as I have been partially draining and refilling for almost 2 weeks. According to the kit I’m wellll over 100 . The only way I can explain it to you is … down the side of the cya test “tube” there are numbers
9, 4.5 and 1.8 . The dot disappears just a touch above the 1.8 well below the letters CYA.

I dumped sample and tried again same results . I think I know the answer but double checking …. Just continue to drain and fill? I can only take out about 6 inches at a time without flooding my neighbors yard but today is my 9th time in 11 days to do so

You would be better off doing a No Drain Exchange. Do you have a sewer connection at your home?

You can't read 90+ so we do a dilution test for those. Mix 50/50 pool and tap water as your sample. Add r0013 and procede as regular. Double the result. If it's still 100, that's 200+ and you'll need a full exchange with much more than that.

You can keep going with 2parts water 1 part pool X3, 3 parts water 1 part pool X4.... etc but it's kinda moot at 200+.

Negative. I do have fiberglass builder says 12 inches is the most we should do at once (which is about double the amount we’ve been doing at once)

Also I was moving on to do dpd test and I’m not seeing bottle R-0001 or R-0002

He gave me a bag of bioactive cya reducer. After reading here, I’m afraid ti use it

You do not get those reagents with a K2006C. You use R0870 powder and R0871 reagent for FC testing.

Dump the bio active in. It will not hurt. It is also 99.9% sure to do nothing to your CYA.

Ok, so I filled to the 10 ml turned very pink. Added/swirled 25drops of R0871 so does this mean 1.25 free?
When adding 5 drops r0003 it stayed clear indicating no combined?

Correct.

It degrades a little each month which isn't noticeable in the season but is when you walk away for several months. You've got nothing to lose by waiting until spring. It might not lower tons but it will lower.

With the cya being addressed. We just went through a bout with white mold, as I’m sure sanitizer was nowhere near the level it needed to be in relation to cya (well I know that NOW) . Gallons of liquid chlorine later and two bottles of vanquish ( glb product) the pool is looking good, clear, sparkly etc.

We have about three weeks before we close it. Pool calculator just says cya is too high. Any advice where I should keep chlorine levels for the next three weeks? Assuming cya is 200+

16 is your minimum. Maintaining 20 to 22 daily will give you some wiggle room. This time of year in Indiana it might not be that bad maintaining a higher level, once it's raised above 20.

I inherited a 300+ pool after moving in Sept and the FC didn't move in the 30s.
