Hey everyone! I used Pool Math (and had help by others) to know how much Cya to add to my pool.
Started process yesterday (sock in front of skimmer) and then finished this am with the rest...I noticed that on the bottle I got from a local hardware store it says to sprinkle on pool surface. So even though the majority was added with sock and dissolved quickly, the last bit was sprinkled and i see it on pool floor. Should I vacuum it up?

Also can I start the slamming process tonight or do I need to wait to get an accurate cya reading?! If I have to wait, then how long?

Thanks!!

Should I vacuum it up?
Yes! Those little granules can leave some faded spots. That's one reason we use the sock to contain them. They're acid after all. :)

You do want an accurate CYA to SLAM. Now if your CYA was zero to begin with, and you used the calculator to reach a specific target, then you can start your SLAM based on that prediction. You can re-test the CYA in a couple days and adjust the FC level if required.

I did my test reading today in the am and everything was within range!!! cYa 34
But FC was 11.5, is that even possible?! I'm so happy to have chlorine in my pool it's surreal :)) I did liquid bleach 10% 5L 1.5 jugs (according to pool math) to get it to 12 range and it was still high this am! Super sunny day too, hot as well but even when I retested afternoon the FC was 11. This is good news or bad?!

Anytime FC holds well it's a good day. :) Congrats! It will slowly fall on its own if you don't add too much. Now simply monitor those two (CYA & FC) and compare to the Chlorine/CYA Chart (link below) to ensure they are balanced together. That will keep your water clean & clear. You typically test FC everyday, and CYA maybe once a month or so. But since you just added CYA, maybe check it again in a few days to ensure you're on target. Enjoy! :swim:

I just got my test kit this week TAYLOR 2006, I noticed that it takes a lot of drops to test the FC hopefully I don't run out if I do it every day ?! Can you buy the drops separately? I ordered the kit online (it was hard to find for shipping to Canada...and expensive!!!)..but I am hoping I can order or buy the drops somewhere or I'll have to eventually make a trip out to the USA!

Ok perfect Thank you!
And I noticed the only thing "off" was CC reading at 1, Iif I understood correctly in Pool School, it has to be 0.5 or lower so I should continue to maintain an FC of 12 until the CC becomes zero? Does that make sense?

Thanks to all!

Just to update my CC is now zero and I'm holding FC in my pool!!!!!!! I can't tell you how happy & thankful I am for this site.
My pool store had me spend so much money and go back and forth testing water...I'm 8 months pregnant and it wasn't easy let me tell you!

The solution really was the CYA ..it said zero in all their reports and with my Taylor test too.
Ever since I got it to 30 my FC holds. I'm updating since a lot of people don't and threads just kind of ended abruptly and you are left to wonder what the solution was :) hopefully this post hope someone else too!

Thanks again:)
