CYA Troubleshooting - Levels still low

Hi all,

Could use some guidance troubleshooting my CYA levels. I started the year at 0, with no cloudiness in my k2006 test and confirmed by pool store test. I've added nearly 4lbs to my 12k gallon vinyl pool which I thought would get me to the 35-40ppm range, but my test still shows it below 30 (how far below, I'm not sure).

I'm using a bit more chlorine than I thought I would for now (adding 54-60oz of 10% daily) and hope getting to 40-45 cya will help with burnoff.

Any common reasons for cya not rising after 3 weeks? I have to backwash again today after massive rain storms so I think I'll need to add even more this weekend, and want to get it right.

Nope, I did all my tests prior to the rain. I haven't backwashed or drained since adding.

What are you using to do your tests, and how are you adding the stabilizer?

Also, please have a look at the extended test instructions for CYA. It's the hardest one to get right. I still probably see a 5-10ppm variation depending on the sun and my mood.
