CYA Test

Hi guys, just looking for clarification on my pool CYA test.

Before opening my pool I wanted to get a reading of the cya.

I picked up a cya test kit and performed the test. After following the instructions, the sample never got cloudy and I was able to constantly see dot. I did confirm that the reagent wasn’t expired.

I took a sample to 2 different pool stores and one reported a cya reading of 3 and another said 12.

I don’t trust the stores but would the cya test at home not getting cloudy match the results at the store?

Anything Your test that reads around 10 is pretty much nonexisent. I'd add enough to take it from 10 to at least 30 and check it again.
