CYA sock split

Hi

I have recently opened my pool. CYA was low, so added the requisite 250g dry stabiliser to bring it up to ~30/35.

But, now the sock that it’s in has split and I have a nice pile of dry stabiliser on the pool floor.

The powder is too light for my vacuum to suck up.

Is this likely to cause problems? Or will it eventually dissolve if I just brush it round to spread it out? Or anyone got any inventive ways to get it out ?

Can the kids still go in it ?

Thanks
Joe

Throw the kids in and let them mix it all up! I walk around in the pool with the CYA sock in my hand to squeeze it all out. It is not biggie.

You do not want the pile to sit there though. Keep trying your vacuum to get it into your filter. Don't backwash for about 3 days to make sure all of the CYA gets dissolved and into the water.

Nylons work better than socks. Grab a cheap pair of knee-highs from the dollar store and you can typically fill them up with 1 to 2 lbs if CYA each.

It is a mild acid that will bleach the vinyl liner if left to sit. It's not harmful, just unsightly. It is safe to swim in and get it moving around :) (as long as the pool water is warm enough!)

This is concerning as the granules should be vacuumed "easily"

Az Dollar stores must have better quality nylons, ROFL I wouldn't trust that much in our options! ;)

I’m currently floating 1-1/2 lbs of granular stabilizer in front of my deep end return now...the $1-store knee-highs are working great ...
