Did not add stabilizer, wrong term. I wanted to lower the CYA further, but haven't had to. I'm hitting it with Chlorine.

@sean65 are you using Pool Math to help with your dosing amounts? With CYA level at 80 and 23k gallons, you'll need 6 gallons of 10% chlorine to get to SLAM level if your current free chlorine was 4 ppm. So you really need to use your test kit in this process.

Pool Math along with the great advice from the posters on this site are well worth the visits to this site to help with the maintaining our pools.
