CYA Question

I often have my grandkids over for the summer, and it is important to me to not have them exposed to excessive amounts of chemicals. So the CYA chart says that if my CYA is 40, then my min is 2.9 and the target FC is 4.6(according to ChemGeek revision of CYA Chart). I always believed that the chlorine ppm should not exceed 3.0....Is it ok for my Grans to be in the pool if the target chlorine is 4.6 pr 5-7? I just dont want them to be exposed to excessive chlorine. Any information would help since they are coming this weekend. Thank you!

The CYA buffers the chlorine. It is safe to swim up to SLAM levels of chlorine, which is 16 If CYA is 40.

I just had a pool party with a bunch of kids and the FC was around 5-6 with a CYA of 30. No issues.
