Hi all,
About a month ago, I wanted to bump up CYA from 50 to 60 to try to minimize FC loss (usu. 5-6ppm/day). I did calculations on pool math and put in dry acid with sock method. I tested 2 and 3 days after, but no change, but a week or more later I noticed the change. Fast forward to 3 days ago. I had significant evaporation, and used hose to fill. Unfortunately, I filled too much and had to drain about 1 1/2" of water (I don't if this is significant to drop CYA), but my CYA was 40, then 30. I put in dry CYA per pool math calculation to bump up to 60, and 2 days later it still tests 30. I have been using volume and I probably should be using weight but is there a significant difference? I don't know how much 16 oz of dry acid weighs. Is the pool math suggestion in weight or volume?
I am just frustrated as I tried this earlier in the season and had similar results of it not coming up. Any suggestions or reasons why it still shows unchanged?
My test results tonight are:
FC 6
CC 0
CYA 30
pH 7.6
TA 90
CH 80
Thank you

Poolmath app amounts is weight for dry adds and volume for liquid adds.

CYA does degrade some in the summer time. 10 ppm or so a month is not unheard of.
