Cutting bigger outlets and inlets for new filter

Hi all,

First post but I have been reading and learning a lot from the forum.

I have a oval agp from summer wave (20’x12’x48”) the ones with the inflatable ring. This is my second year with it and I just upgraded to a Intex krystal clear sand filter 12”. The new filter have bigger hoses and it included a new outlet that it is bigger than the existing hole in my pool wall.
Will it be worth it to try to cut the wall of the pool to make the outlet fit? If yes, should I also upgrade the inlet?
Im afraid I might damage the pool.

Thanks for the help

I would suggest looking up Youtube videos as well, to get a clear idea of the whole process (we did anyways, lol)

1) After TRACING with a sharpie (permanent marker), the opening (not the covers, just the part that allows water through), for the NEW inlet(in to the filter)/outlet(out to the pool) (not the whole fitting) around where they are currently
2) Get and use a NEW (aka SHARP) exacto blade to cut out the openings, making sure to double & triple check that you are INSIDE the trace lines,

We did this to our teenie AGP pool (15' by 33", yes inches) We do not regret it!

Here is a video (I can't understand him, but shows the idea) :D

Thanks for the reply! Im a YouTube freak hahaha I saw a video but it was on framed pools so I just want to make sure that pools with inflatable rings aka quick setup are the same/close procedure to cut.

Cool! The biggest thing is not cutting the opening TOO big, because you can't really "go back" on the vinyl liners ;)

And definitely make sure to put them in the same place as the current inlet/outlet as it SHOULD be reinforced for support
