Welcome to tfp!
I don't have direct experience with the cullingan service but know all about well water, pools, and the inherent problems with metal in the water. Is the pool new, or just new to you?
Post back some detail and I'll help get you started.
Please fill out your signature when you have a second. Please also post back how much culling an is charging and whether they've described the filtering as "Reverse Osmosis" and if not, what kind of filters they're sending.
In my area, I was able to truck in 24,000 gallons of iron free water for just under $1,000 (two large tankers.)
For top ups, I now only use a spigot that runs through my oversized dual tank water softener. But softener's will only work if your iron load is 2 ppm or less.
Do you have a reading of the level of iron in your well in terms of ppm? That's worth knowing to work up a metal managemen plan
There are a lot of other aspects to pool care you should check out on TFP, including typical routines and maintaining your free chlorine in ratio to your cya/stabilizer [fc/cya][/FC/cya]
Metal management is a bit of an advanced topic...so make sure you're comfortable with the basics before you pay to haul or treat your water.
For example, making sure your ph doesn't get too high s imprtant when there are metals in your water, and "slamming"
SLAM Process or maintaining a high FC level to shock can oxidize metals and sometimes also cause tem to stain/or tint your water. So its important to "avoid" ever letting your water get to a point where it needs shocking/slamming.
If you don't have one already, you will need a good FAS/DPD test kit -- the TFTtest kit 100 or Taylor K2006. Visit
http://www.tfttestkits.net for the former.
Since adopting TFP maintenance methods, I've never had to slam
At any rate, welcome, and I hope this helps get you started. I will keep an eye on this thread to help you decide which way to go on achieving a relatively metal-free pool if possible
