Hello every one. I hope you’re all well. Not posted a dumb question for a while so here’s one!

I’m assuming a negative csi isn’t a problem for a vinyl pool with swcg and heater.

Ph-7.6
Ta-135
Cah-230
Salt - not sure but tds c2000 (according to a probe) so I think about 2000
Cya-20 (low I know but my pool is in a covered Perspex shed)
Temp -80f

yes and no. If your pH, TA, and CH are within range, not really. If you see some scale flakes coming out of the returns, check it. Likely the TA and /or pH are elevated.

CSI does not apply to heaters.

Gas fired heater manufacturers claim you need a level of CH. That is from the days of steam boilers. A pool heater is no steam boiler. But keeping a CH level of 100 or more in a pool with a gas heater is likely a reasonable idea.

I realise I’ve posted this in totally the wrong place- sorry! Looking at how to a lower my TA I see it says my swcg will be raising my ph. Does this quickly get “out of hand”?

Add acid due to ph rising, this then reduces TA. now that TA lowered, ph rises faster, add acid and repeat, each time ph becoming more sensitive to the Swcg aeration . So I need to expect to be using an addition to keep TA in range.

Edit. I got the wrong didn’t I the ph is less sensitive to swcg aeration when ta is lower so acid addition should slow down

My gas heater died so I’m going to extend my radiator circuit and use a heat exchanger.
