Hi Everyone - I bought a home with in-ground pool with an existing cover star automatic pool cover. Few months back the rope broke for the cover but thanks to this awesome community, I was able to replace both the ropes by myself. It works fine while covering the pool but while uncovering the pool, the cover tube and rope reel engages at the same time in clockwise direction from motor side due to which rope gets loosen and entangle on the rope reel. I have watched multiple videos for cover/uncover and it looks like while uncovering, ideally cover tube gets engaged first followed by the rope reel for a smoother operation. But in my case both gets engaged at the same causing rope loosing and entanglement. I have tried reducing the torque limiter but no luck.
Any idea what could be going wrong in my case? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Where are you in CA and are you willing to engage a pro? I personally have never tried to DIY my auto cover.

Here in the SF Bay Area and much of NorCal, there is only one company, Pool Covers Inc. They can probably help you if you're in their service area.

I am based in Livermore, CA. I tried reaching to couple of service technicians around the area and price quoted was $$$$, hence I decided to go DIY route. Have you taken pool covers service? Is it at a reasonable price?

I have used Pool Covers Inc for years. I can't tell you how reasonable they are, as they're pretty much the only game in town. But they know what they're doing and they do good work.
