Cover question

We got a lot of wet snow this weekend and then a few days of 20 below and now 40 degree and rain. So my cover was weighted down to water and then the cover and rain froze to the surface I think. So my question is I know the cover is weighted down cause of the perimeter snow bit after that melts Will the cover pull off the ice? So I need to worry about it? It’s really giving those straps a run for thier money.

I never had to deal with this before so new to me. I have with snow but it usually melts normal and bounces back. I neve he the center of cover freeze to the water I think.

I’ll post a pic in a bit. The one I took was too large for me to post from my phone.

And here is my other question my builder told me that when the springs for the Straps have gaps in between them it means I still have more tension that the cover can take. he said when there is no space in between the springs anymore that means that max tension I figured it would be the other way around

I came home. Pulled back my cover a bit. My water was 6 inches below my tile last week. It’s now 1 inch from tile. No ice on first 3 feet of perimeter of pool. Ice in center holding cover down. I’m pumping out water to get water 4 inches below tile. No ice my returns. So I should be good to not damage anything right cause ice will just fall as water in pool falls like an ice cube correct?

Yes, cover and attached ice will both go down as water level goes down. Cover should be fine if the straps were setup correctly. I can't picture what you are saying about strap gaps. It's easier to look at the springs and see if they still have compression room left in them. Regardless I'd be more concerned about tile than the cover if I had to choose. My cover stretches down to the waterline when it is 16" below the deck when it snows. And when not snow or frozen to the water, it's tight.

I meant the coils. 90 percent of them are not stretched much at all. Like 3 or 4 have a bunch of compression showing but the coils are still gapped like 1/4 inch so have play for sure. I’m like 2.5 inches below tile. It’s a slow go. I’m going to let it run till like 10 pm I should be easily 6 inches below tile again. I’m glad u are thinking like me that tile is more important than the cover. So my tile should be fine cause water never got on them except for water running down them from rain today. We r suppose to get a lot of cold weather by Sunday. They will still be wet behind them I assume but I should be good. Right? I mean all last year when it rained or snowed they got wet from water flowing over them or dripping down from the point and got cold weather after that and I was fine. It’s more having the water stay on the tile and freeze thaw right?

I appreciate u checking in for me!

This is new for me so it’s a learning experience for this year. It’s cold out right now. The pavers are slippery as heck. I hope I can get the straps back on the pins without falling. Lol

Gotcha on the springs. I see that in your earlier post now. The tiles will be fine now. How do I know this? I don't. But they most likely will and you will sleep easier if you think they will be fine.

Lol. Thanks man. I never knew that is how the springs worked. ThAts why I called my builder today. I saw the coils were spaced and thought that meant they were stretched cause of weight. I said it was the opposite. I never really payed attention. But then I was like ok the straps aren’t under stress but let’s see how far below the tile I still am. I figured 4 inches. Boy I was wrong. I’m glad I checked.
