Cover pools model II save-t cover shear pin

Recently bought a home that has a cover pools auto pool cover and the shear pin is broken. Previous owner put a bolt in place of it and I would like to put a shear pin back in so I don't potentially damage something. I can't find any place online that I can buy the correct pin from. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks .

I do not know the company that installed the cover but I thought the company that made the cover is called cover pools. That is the name on the pulley housing and on part of the motor. I have been searching all around and can't find anyone who sells that part. It is a 1/4 x 1 1/2 shear pin. I thought about a snow blower one but I wanted to make sure it would break at the correct amount of torque if needed.

Sheer pins are like fuses. If you keep breaking them, something is going on. It could be something as simple as an adjustment needed. You are right in wanting to replace the bolt with the correct part. Get several roll pins, and if you start going through them, i would call for service to see what the cause is.

In my case the cover is on the concrete deck of an irregular shaped pool. There is a lot of friction. And due to this I need to replace the cover every 3-4 years. I do get some warranty coverage. It's a design flaw. If I could go back I would make a rectangle pool and put the track under the coping that way there is little to no drag. My old pool was like this and the cover was 12 years old before I moved.
