Could this chlorine be bad?

1st time I have noticed this. May be nothing. I purchase my chlorine from PinchaPenny, 2 1/2 Gal jugs at a time, (X2). This pertains to both. I'm not using much now in winter, even here in Fl. Had the jugs for about a week, before using some of 1 of the jugs. When I poured it into the measuring container I used, it looked a little cloudy, not quiet clear. I say looked, because the measuring container is opaque, and not real clear plastic. So I got a clear jug, 1/2 gal. clear coke bottle type, cleaned it, dry, and put some in it. Looked a little murky after the pour, so I let it set, until it looked clear, and there was no real residue on the bottom.

So I shook it, got kind of good murky, and took at least 5 minutes to turn all clear like you expect to see. But again no residue on the bottom. Is this possibly fine bubbles in suspension, something else, or me, or bad for some reason. Just doesn't look like what I have poured before. Both jugs are like this.

The only ingredients should be water, salt and chlorine so it is unlikely that the batch is bad. I think the most important thing is that the strength is ok. To check that verify that the FC level in the pool went up as expected according to PoolMath calculation.

Being form "Pinch-a-Penny" my guess is the bleach they sell is a cheap grade of commercial beach. If they are reducing the concentration at all on-site by diluting it with local water, then that adds another layer of complexity. In the manufacturing of bleach, off-color and turbidity is typically caused by the bleach product not being properly filtered and/or the presence of transition metals (nickel, iron, copper, manganese, etc) forming complexes with the hydroxide and chlorates present in the bleach. If water is used to dilute the bleach, then any hardness present in the water (calcium or magnesium) will form cloudiness by precipitation of calcium carbonates and magnesium hydroxides.

Basically the problem you're seeing is just cheap bleach....it will still chlorinate your pool.

Well. I don't know what to think now, as maybe it's me and I'm having a senior moment. Brain fart I guess. Never yet (in 2 years) had a problem with PinchPennys chlorine so,

Have done this in the past, so I did a chem geek 2x(1:100) to get 10000 dilution on both jugs and got roughly 12% chlorine on both.

Maybe it's me, and I just think I see something when I really never noticed it before. Who knows.
