Corroded Parts?

Our heater was shutting off before our spa got to temp and I wasn't able to recalibrate the system (appearantly a known problem). Our pool guys came out and replaced some parts. Can anyone tell me what these parts are and why they appear corroded.

Thermal regulator....

Corrosion is what metal parts immersed in hot pool water do.

Thank you! The heat pump is only a year old which seems too little of a time for that kind of corrosion. Could the corrosion on the thermal regulator have been caused from too much muriatic acid having been run through the filter system?

I am sure that Thermal Regulator came out of your Pentair MasterTemp gas heater, not your heat pump.

Not directly. Any muriatic acid would be diluted by your pool volume by the time it gets to the heater.

You don't have any PoolMath log of your water chemistry history to comment on the chemirty.

Do you use PoolMath ?

Do you track your CSI?

Actually, none of those parts look all that bad.

You can test the regulator by running it under hot tap water. It’s should open up at around 120F.
