Cooler temps can I run on the lower side for chlorine?

My pool temp is 68-70* I am running low on liquid chlorine and really don't want to purchase more before closing because by me we can only buy the liquid pool shock in quantities of 4 gallons and only the pool store has them available for the next week before they close. They also charge $10 more than where I have been buying the same brand. I only have 1 1/2 gallons left. Will I run into problems if I run my chlorine at the lower end of the recommended levels for my cya? The pool is not being used currently. I thought the water would be cold enough to close it by now, but mother nature surprised us with a week of 80* temps. Looking at the forecast water temps should be dropping low enough to close in about week. I am getting less than half the amount of sun on the pool right now.

I do have "unstabilized" tablets that will maintain my current chlorine level if I use them (7.5ppm my cya is 70). It is an aboveground and my calcium hardness is low so it won't hurt if the calcium levels go up. I would like to save my liquid chlorine for the final slam. If it is even enough to bring the chlorine level up to where it needs to be for the closing slam.

I say by the chlorine and get it to slam level before closing. Better to spend it now then open it next season looking swampy green and buying the chlorine then.
How long does unopened chlorine hold its potency? I store in my garage and it doesn't hit freezing temps in there, but it does get very cold.
