Converting to SWG and variable speed pump

No. But be sure you are cognizant that the SWCG needs to be powered off if you turn off the pump for any reason.
Stupid question - A SWCG is on my purchase list for next year. Does it also need to be turned off if I stop the pump for the five minutes it takes to empty the pump basket? Is there a grace period where the generator can be left on? I understand there would be a buildup of gas in the chamber without the flow of water, but how long does one have before it reaches danger levels of pressure?

I have an Intermatic timer that's been disabled since I set the built-in schedule on my VSF. My plan was to plug the SWCG into the outlet that's built into my timer box, but doesn't run through the timer.

Not a pressure issue. It is the hydrogen gas that is produced.
A few minutes may be ok. Plus if the flow switch is working, the SWCG should turn off. So a good time to check that.
