Contract signed, design almost finished, dig begins April 1st

I would want a variable speed pump and I would ditch the cleaner he gives you for a outlet powered robot. I see you are in NJ too, I would want the spa to be standalone so I could use it in the winter. Once you shut the pool down for the year the spa goes to sleep with it. Just making sure you understand that part. they are great as a combo in Texas and Arizona, here the standalone spas with a good cover can be kept open all year with a few bucks a week on the electric bill. Nice to sit in the spa when its snowing ;)

Any idea on the cost difference to go to a variable speed pump?

Depends on actual costs w the builder. If I was buying a pump it would be 500 max from average pump to good VSP. Your builder might want 1k for the difference. In reality it's the same install should just be exchange of product but you have to figure his profit on material. Having a SWG without vsp doesn't make much sense to me but people do it. I like to run slow for longer periods and save money. I would want at least a 2 speed at minimum

So the process has begun! I took the advice of many of you and took out the jagged edges and went with a very sleek look. Here’s some pictures so far!

We ended up doing the tanning ledge integrated in with the pool. It’s 9 feet by 17 feet. Then there’s steps the length of the pool. The back wall has a raised spa with over flow and then two waterfalls on either side of the raised wall.

I am between pebble sheen ocean blue or black onyx. The similar colors in Pebble Tec is black peal (compared to black onyx in the sheen) or midnight blue (ocean blue sheen).

I believe I’m going to go with an ivory travertine decking and coping. I’m still trying to decide if the pool tile should match the travertine or if it should match closer to the plaster. The raised wall will be a similar travertine stone as the pavers!

We’re very slowly moving! Travertine has been ordered. All pluming has been hooked up! Here’s some updates pictures
