Our pool was just installed last year and we had great success with the TFP method using liquid chlorine. This is my first year opening and I'm wondering if anyone can confirm I'm on the right path.

Water was drained below the skimmer/jets for the winter. I took off the winter cover and the water was crystal clear and I filled it up with fresh water today. I ran the pump for a handful of hours and have these results as tested with a Taylor FAS-DPD kit.

FC 1.2
CC 0.4
TA 180
pH 7.3
CYA 10 (estimated. It's lower than the test kit can go)

I just added 32oz of ProTeam Metal Magic. I don't know why... the pool store said to do this when opening (I probably should have checked here first!!). This product says to maintain FC closer to 1.2 for 48 hours before returning to normal.

Is the path below correct? Do I need to wait a certain amount of time between these steps?

1. Maintain FC as-is for 48 hours due to Metal Magic.
2. Increase CYA slowly by adding stabilizer in a sock in the skimmer.
3. Increase FC as CYA raises.
3. Once CYA is up, use acid to lower TA.
4. Aerate to increase pH due to lowering from the acid.

Once you start to add CYA, go ahead and add LC to start to raise your FC to the target valve to the desired CYA level you will achieve.
I would test daily (or twice daily) to monitor the progress of CYA and FC
Don’t be in big hurry to lower TA, it will come down over time. Your pH is already 7.3 so don’t want to tank your pH below 7. So no need to add acid until it hits 7.8 or 8.

You are correct to aerate to raise pH if needed.
