How appropriate to start the next page off with Mats standing in his wonderful "sturdy" pool with that one little water hose (lmho) and a smile that could never be matched anywhere on this Earth! How FUN has this all been and, I'm sure, will continue to be! Mats, you're a great sport and deserve a trophy from this site!!

I haven't been on much but I am so happy for you Henry! I can't wait to see if FULL and the sun shining on it, you and your family! :cool:
 
Mats, this has been a long time coming, and that pic of you holding the hose is priceless. :goodjob: :cheers: Ought to be close to getting full by now. Lets see some pics of everyone floating. Can't wait to see the color of the water. :whoot: I bet your girls grins will equal or be bigger than yours.

It's almost hard to relate to the overwhelming kindness that so many people have showed me on this site from day one. This correspondence have helped me many times when things have been tough! Beacuse times have been tough from time to time during this project, sometimes have I asked myself what am I doing. Try to do all this job myself on spare times is not a rational way of thinking. Then it have been great to have you all here sharing info with and most important! Having a good laugh with. So I just say thanks a whole lot to all of you :bowdown: :bowdown:
But don't think that this thread are over with, not yet! There are many things that I need to accomplish before the concrete pool up north is over and done with :-D

DW sneaked down to the pool with the morning paper after a good hours walk and a good breakfast. It was good to see that she was the first to enter the pool. I took out the camera fast as a weasel :goodjob: We have such lovely weather here at the moment so we coulden't choose a better time to fill up. It was a good feeling(if I express myslef carefully) waking up this morning and see how much water there was in the pool. I almost fell down the stairs from our bedroom, so eager was I. Like a child on christmas eve :cheers:

There is a bit of plumbing left to do that I hope I can get help with tomorrow. There is so many fittings that I need to collect if I should do it myself that I got to the conclusion that it's better to hire a contractor to do that job. But it is like it is with me and contractors. I have tried to get hold of him both yesterday and today without succes, so I woulden't be surprised if I have to do the job myself at the end :hammer:
In the meantime have I moved out the heatpump to outside of the pool wall after I've read about a few people that have been annoyed on the sound that the heatpump gives. So I poured a small slab on the outside that was all I had to do practically, since both the hoses and the supply cable was long enough, so it was an easy detour :)

Last pic is from this evening, the hose have been in 29hours then. I expect the pool to filled up tomorrow morning at 7 a clock! And my solar blanket should also arrive tomorrow so if only the plumber could show a bit of himself tomorrow everything would be more than perfect :cheers: ...

Hey Mats,

You've already heard enough praise from your adoring fans, so I won't bore you with more flattery on a job well done. :wink: However, I will comment that I love the look of a tiled pool! I wonder why we don't see more of them? Probably cost prohibitive?

Anyway, I'm jealous! That pool is gorgeous, and the classic white tile with crystal aqua water is irresistable! It just beckons you to come in...

Hope you can start circulating it soon. You're starting out with such a clean pool compared to what mine was after it was installed. It was a mess :x Sand,concrete, gravel. Yuch :!:
Now, on to testing and balancing your water :lol: Get that TF-100 kit out :whoot:
 
Congratulations Mats! :goodjob: Looks great; with the water color you said you wanted, right? Just out of curiousity, what's the temperature of your fill water? I see that your wife has only the bottom 2 inches of her body in the pool. :shock:

And.......it begins :whip: you should get a head start and test your fill water! Post the results up and we'll help you in this next phase of your adventure! If the water is fairly warm, I think you should start putting chlorine in there now rather than waiting for it to totally fill and get plumbed.
 
I sat the clock on 05:00 this morning so i could check on the waterlevel but for some reason did I wake up an hour earlier so I went down at 4 instead to look at the water. Took a quick look at the window to see that there was one tileplate left until the level would reach the glass mosaic. But I got the wonderful idea that I want to feel the water, naked and all :shock: When I opend up the door did I hear a pourling sound from the machineroom so I ran over there and saw that it was half full of water. For a split second there was I thinking that it came from one of the lamps :wink: But when I came to senses did I understand that it coulden't come from there. I looked out on the pool and saw that the water level had reached the inlets so it was from there the water came. I ran immeditiately over to my neighbour, jumped over the fence to turn off his garden hose. Most have been a good sight seeing me running over the yards all naked in the early morning :oops: After the supply was turned off did I start my pump to pump out the water from the machineroom. It was pure luck beacuse the waterlevel haden't reached the elctrical cabinet on the wall, but it had covered the circulation pump compleately which worries me. I have taken off the plates where there supply cables goes in order to dry it out. Not much water there despite the pump was covered with water :?:
I really hope that it's safe to connect and it will work otherwise I'm in a big trouble.
I can't belive I coulden't figuring out beforehand that the water would take that way since the only thing that is plumbed on our system is the suction side :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: It's embarissing to admít a story like this but we don't have any secrets to each other right :cheers:

Talked to the local poolguy a while ago this morning and I hope he can get here this evening and finish the job so I can start my circulation. Until he get's here will I add some chlorine to the water that I have bought yesterday.
Dave! the water is fairly cold from the hose but the extrem hot weather have probably heated it up a few degrees already. I don't even have a thermometer yet so I can't say for sure but somewhere around 55 to 60 degrees if I should estimate.
I've read on the package and it said that I should solve the chlorine in water and pour it out along the sides of the pool while the circualtion is on. I think I have to get out in the water so I can pour it in more even, since I can't circulate the water.
I have a few things that I need to prepare for the pool guy if he will show up this evening then I will take out my testkit and try to figuring out how that works. And I'm so glad that you will be behind me on that :) As soon that I have any figures will I post them.

Finally some good news!
The mail came with both my solarblankets from Germany and my skimmers socks from Bronx USA. Should be the best skimmer socks available on the planet if you can belive the ad, lol!!
And most important! I got hold of the pool guy :goodjob: I hope he will show up later today and fix the circulation so we can start to use this pool. Kids starts to get a bit impatience at the moment.
I have to cut and sew a little to get the blanket to fit but I saved a lot of money by buying a big peace instead of tailor made sized to our pool.
It supposed to be black(haven't unpacked it yet) which will be good looking with the black concrete. I will post a pic once I'm done with it.

I think it was fate that woke you up early!!! Glad you caught it in time....

I have a black/blue cover - it works great at reducing the FC loss during the day when you aren't using the pool.... and btw, came home after a week's vacation and the FC was 9 and the temp had risen from 82 to 95.... :wink:
 
Oh, by the way, you may want to put some plugs on your returns until you get your pluming completed. :wink:

Seriously though, I'm sorry you had to wake up to such a shock this morning. Sometimes in our excitement we forget things that any normal, sane person would remember to do. Like when my husband tried to drive my van on the freeway with the emergency brake still on! "Hey, what's that loud grinding noise?" answer, "The sound of money flying out of your wallet if you don't take the effin emergency brake off!" :rant:
 
O.K. We're waiting for more excitement Mats :lol: Glad you're pump worked and the electrical wasn't messed up. Talk about a "buzz killer" :-D Got your adrenalin going this morning though and didn't even need that cup of coffee :mrgreen:
 
:lol: :lol: Two things came to mind upon reading your post- first, your neighbor let you use his hose to fill your pool (if I read correctly) Thats a really nice neighbor. Second, the water is only 60 degrees! And you in your birthday suit! Are you crazy? I dont get in until at least 85! :lol: :lol:
 
I can say that I expect a law suit if anyone saw me this morning :wink:

My neighbour is out of town and we are water his flowers. Not more than fare that he can lend us some water :cool:
I just kidding. I said to him that I will use his hose and I have written what his watermeter was at before I started, that way can get the exact capacity of my pool. I will pay him for the water of course.

We didn't finish all plumbing tonight unfortunately but I hope he can get here again on Thursday and finish the rest of it.
I will add a bit extra chlorine tomorrow before I put on the solar cover. That was good news fpm that the black surface helps decreas the amount of chlorine the pool needs :)

Tomorrow will be the first day that I will have vacation for real. We going out to a restaurant that we goes to every year together with some friends. They serve a grill buffet as a speciality just for a few nights each year that is very very good. Different stations where you choose the food that you want the chef to prepare for you, just the way you like it. And the best of all is that one of my dearest friends are working on that restaurant. We always get the best tables and a lot of drinks on the house :cheers:
