Need to decide on bluestone coping or concrete coping stained to look like bluestone. Can't get a contract until this is decided. 12" bluestone is a 5k upgrade on our size pool. Having difficulty justifying spending this.
The options are go with larger pool and concrete or lose a few feet and go bluestone.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

I’d always vote for a larger pool given that choice. I have bluestone coping and like it.

I would recommend a extensive search on colored concreate. I assume it will be stamped as well? This color and stamp process is not 'set in stone'. You do not always get the look that you want or the look you are told you will get. Some masons just trowel in the color after the pour when it should be the entire batch that is mixed. Even when done properly the color can vary. And of course if it gets damaged you will never be able too match it with a repair. My PB damaged my paver coping on the first closing by putting there compressor on it and deeply gouged it. It was a fairly easy fix for them and a good match when they were done.

I believe pavers are close to the same money as color and stamped. So perhaps you should consider a middle compromise. I would definitely want the larger pool if possible.

The only way I would even consider doing a colored stamped concreate is if you could see a 5 year old finished product of exactly what you are looking for done by the the same "Mason" (not just the company) that will be doing the work.
