Complete Automation System Question

Good morning All, im currently building a pool, and added the automation package, but want to be sure PB is doing it right as i pay around $6000 for it.

Here is a list of the equipment:
- Pump: Jandy VSSHP270DV2A (Energy Efficient Pool Pump: ePump 2.2 & 2.7 HP | Jandy)
- Filter: Jandy CL340
- Heater: Jandy JRT3000R (VersaTemp Heat/Chill Pump | Jandy)
- Blower: Jandy PSB215 (Pool & Spa Blower: Jandy Air Blower | Jandy)
- Lights: Jandy JLU4C12W100 (Inground Pool Light: Jandy HydroCool Light | Jandy)
- Chlorination: Jandy TrueCrear 11k (Salt Water Pool Chlorinator: Jandy TruClear | Jandy)

Automation Equipment:
- Jandy AquaLink IQ904-P
- Jandy AquaLink RS RS-P4
- Jandy AquaLink Power Center 6612F
- Jandy iAquaLink Network Interface Module IQ30-A

Now few of my assumptions
1- There are 4 Relays under the RS unit, im guessing these relays will be connected to the lights, the pump, the blower and the salt generator? ( I will route the cables later today to be sure where each one goes)
2- There are 2 RS-485 conenctors on the top, im guessing one goes to the iAquaLink iQ30 Network Device, and the other one goes to the pump
3- To the right of the RS-485 connections there is a sensor modules, with wires on Pins 1/2 Going to the heater 5/6 Water temperature sensor and 7/8 Air temperature sensor
4- Missing valves actuators, i guess they will install them later

Now my questions, i feel that im missing few wires:
1- For the heater they used 2 wires, instead of 4 (RS-485) meaning that the cooling feature of my heater wont work from the app
2- Missing RS-485 wire from salt cell to the RS box
3- Do the lights need some kind of RS-485 connection or only power from the transformer to a relay inside the RS box is needed
4- Anything else?

You have 4 relays, but they aren't quite "do anything you want". Relay #1 is dedicated as power to the filter pump. If you have a SPA and want to utilize the "spillover" function relay #3 becomes dedicated to that function (even if there isn't a need for the relay). If you don't need for the "Solar Pump" output then that connection can be used to drive an additional relay ("Extra Aux').

1) I would have expected a Jandy Heater connected to a Jandy control to be also an RS-485 connection, see page 16 of the manual available from the web page you linked above. There are two RS-485 connectors, but you can wire multiple devices to a connector, either directly or daisy-chained from one device to the next.
2) I don't think the "True Clear" supports RS-485, meaning you will need to adjust it's settings directly at the device rather than through the automation. For automation you need the Aquapure. I would not say there is a significant advantage in controlling the salt cell via the automation, so if this saved significant money I would keep it.
3) One of the relays will be used to switch power to the transformer for the lights.

Thanks for your reply, I do see what you talk about on page 16 of the heater manual, if i do make those changes , will there be some kind of programming that needs to be done to recognize the RS-485 device? or it will just/automatically work?

Also i went back to check the relays, only 3 of them are wired to something.
1 - Light Transformer
2- Pump On this relay The pump is wired together to the hot side and the Salt cell is wired to the trigger side of the relay. (You can see that on the picture i posted above, its the 1st relay on the left)
3- Blower

Is #2 correct?

Also im not sure what you mean by relay 3 is reserved to spill over mode, do you mean aux3? can i connect that 3rd relay to aux 4? or aux 5?

Ah, sorry, you are correct regarding #2. When I skimmed the same manual I didn't see the RS-485 instructions, but they are indeed there, so yes you probably want to get that connected up.

I'm not a Jandy expert, but perhaps one of the Jandy experts here will chime in.

I know that on my system the VS pump and SWG are wired in parallel on the load side of the filter pump relay. This is also how the Jandy documentation indicates is should be wired (refer to the RS manual). However, I have seen numerous postings in this forum indicating that VS pumps should be wired to continuous power as yours apparently is. I suspect it will work just fine either way.

One of the dip switches enables "spillover mode" which is handy if you have a spillover spa. However that function takes over the "Aux 3" relay (the far right relay) even though the spillover function is usually just a matter of moving the valves.

The Aux 4-7 outputs are not available on the RS-4 (disabled by the firmware).
