Come on, spring!!!

Richard - PBBBBT! to you too! :-D You'll be swimming soon, and Alice and I will still be trying to avoid freezing to death.

Alice - Your weather is even worse than mine. Everyone north, south, and west of us got snow. We got a little sleet, but since it stayed above freezing, it's all gone.

Outdoor temps this morning are 37, and the pool water is 44. On Saturday, the pool water was 58. 14 degrees in two days seems like a lot of drop, but hey, what do I know!. I still have the winter cover on it, so no insulation there, and we've had a lot of wind that gets under the cover, so maybe.

Oh well, the weather guesser is predicting better weather this week.

It got up into the mid 40s yesterday with pretty high winds, no sun, but, at least, not hurricane force, and no more precip. The ice on deck melted yesterday but some tiny drifts left in few places at end of day. I didn't even want to check the water temp. It probably dropped back into the 40's. Water was warm enough to stand putting my arm down in to water to empty PoolSkim bags a few days ago. It wasn't too bad last night. (The puppies ate the right arm of my shoulder length golves. )

Sun is out strong and bright today. Even if the temps don't rise much (they should) this will be a sunburn day.

Let's all hope "down our way" that it's finally over. please please please

Well, I finally opened this weekend. I had filled the pool back up a couple of weeks ago to get things circulating again. Yesterday, I finally pulled the winter cover off. The water was crystal clear  , but I had quite a bit of dirt on the bottom. There were also several worms in there. How on earth do worms get into a covered, above ground pool? I would occasionally see worms last season, but just assumed that the birds were somehow dropping them into the pool. But in the winter??? With a solid cover????

Anyway, water temp right now is 50, the water is crystal clear, and my numbers are pretty good (although I'm trying to bring TA down a bit.)

We gave my youngest a little R/C submarine for Christmas, and he was dying to try it out. (That's why I finally pulled the cover off.) He had a blast with it. It's really kind of a cool toy. (I will admit that I played with it a bit, myself, but I didn't get nearly as excited. At least that's what I'm claiming :-D ) The only problem is that you need to hold it under to get the air out of it before it will really dive, and that water is COLD! (Back when I was a kid, 50 degree water wasn't anywhere near as cold as it is now. I don't know whats wrong with the thermometer these days, but it sure doesn't take long for the fingers to get stiff and numb. )
